Lideres Digitales: Creating a New Generation of Spanish-Language
Multimedia Trainers. The International Center for Journalists
(ICFJ) will run a four-week online course for 50 Hispanic U.S.
journalists. They will be trained on the latest trends in digital
technology. Using the skills gathered during the course, the
participants will develop a draft for a digital news project.
This program will be conducted in Spanish. The 26 most outstanding
students will be selected for a boot camp training session on
"How to be a backpack journalist". Depending on their geographical
location, the journalists will travel to either Chicago or Los
Angeles, where they will develop their ideas for the digital news
project. For three days, they will be trained on topics such as
social networking for news, mapping, multimedia storytelling,
reporting through mobile technology, and the latest trends in
digital media. After the boot camp, the journalists will return
to their respective newsrooms, where they will finish their
digital news projects and submit them for review. Eight winners
will be selected to come to ICFJ's headquarters in Washington,
DC and participate in a training session on "How to be a trainer".
The two best trainers of the group will be sent to a national
convention, where they will lead training sessions for other
Spanish-speaking journalists in the United States. This opportunity
is funded by the McCormick Foundation. Therefore all expenses are
covered for the journalists selected. The application deadline is

ANGRY ROBOT
http://angryrobotbooks.com/march-2011-open-door-month/
---
We're publishing novels, either standalone or as part of greater
series. We're not looking to publish your novellas, short stories
(individually or collected in book form) or non-fiction. All our
books are "genre" fiction in one way or another -- specifically
fantasy, science fiction, horror, and that new catch-all urban
or modern fantasy. We're looking for all types of sub-genre, so
for example, hard SF, space opera, cyberpunk, military SF,
alternate future history, future crime, time travel, and more.
We have no problem if your book mashes together two or more of
these genres, but they must have that genre foundation - no
thrillers with the merest touch of SF, for example. Our books
will be published in all English-language territories -- notably
the UK, US and Australia -- so we'll be buying rights to cover all
those.

NOTE: Usually requires agented submissions, but will be taking
UNAGENTED submissions during the month of March only.
